Foldable.Me

When I heard about Foldable Me I got really excited and pumped about this mini paper craft. I put it together in a few minutes and it's had a lasting impression on anyone who's seen it. The first words my siblings said were something like, 'Woah, that is so cool" and asked where I got it. Foldable Me was a Kickstarter funded project and the concept was great enough to be funded within a few days with about 1000% of their intended goal.

I finally got a chance to put mine together and had some fun placing it in different places within my house. Before I got my order, I was able to make myself similar to how you would make a nintendo wii mii character. It was a fun process choosing from tons of eyes, noses, outfits and more! I decided to build it when I had a good amount of time to play with it (I know, I know...)

Foldable Me offeres free shipping internationally and you can get and make your own mini right here!

Here is my little Foldable Me just chillin' and Hangin' out in my favourite spots. If I could shrink down a la magic school bus, this is probably where I would go.

This is probably how it would feel to chill in a mason jar, and yes I have a pretty good collection of mason jars. (don't judge me...)

 Here is me, almost born

Here is me just hanging out with my crafting supplies

Here is me just chillin' on my typewriter

and finally, who would't want their own #ootd shot?

Paper and Stationary Store Review: Hanji Handmade Paper and Gifts

Two Fridays ago I went down to the Annex/Koreatown to take a workshop on bookmaking. I had such a blast I would definitely recommend this to anyone who lives in the Toronto area and would love to experience and learn how to bind and make a Notebook.
I took some photos while I was there documenting the steps and the tools used to create this book. I brought along my two little cousins to craft the books and I sat on the side watched and took photos.

Hanji is located at Palmerston/Bloor in between the Annex and Korea town. I discovered the cute little shop while walking down the street one day while I was waiting for my friends to meet me. I walked in and stepped into paper crafting heaven! I couldn't take my eyes off all the papers, stamps, tools, vintage stickers,  fabric tapes and washi tapes(and you all know my love of that!) I knew I had to come back and spend more time inside because ten mins was not enough in the slightest. I walked home that day with two amazing stamps and a pack of business card sized card stock to make your own business cards. I got a vintage camera wood mounted rubber stamp as well as a Starbucks cup stamp. The stamps are high quality and really cute! I used one for a gift wrapping project which will be linked here.

When we first got to the store we were greeted by Catherine Choi. Her and her husband own the store and their joint effort has really paid off. I was surprised and amazed to learn that the store's display racks were all constructed by her husband. I was really impressed by the display of all that paper. It was really beautiful and although I was in the store this time for almost two hours I did not get tired of walking through the aisles of paper and products.

We left with these beautiful fabric hard covered journals and even got to add a corner clip, a small bookmark with a charm along with a cute metal lock to keep it closed.

This was a great experience, Catherine was very patient and was extremely helpful. Once again I left with some goodies including vintage stickers that I am in love with!

New packaging

This is why I love keeping my paper cut offs and repurposing them later. Looks so great with the typewriter detail.

DIY: Book Paper Flower

This is a tutorial I found on Pintrest and decided to do a rendering of my own by following the instructions from it.

For this project you are going to need:

  • Book Paper
  • White Glue
  • Scissors
  • Stem / 20 gauge wire/Thin wooden dowel
  • Green grosgrain ribbon

After choosing your book paper, cut out 5 pieces of 5 arch shapes in 5 different sizes for a total of 25 pieces. Make sure you keep the font in one direction so that the final product looks cohesive.
Ben the center of each 'petal' and create a rounded edge by curling in the top to give a more natural shape.

I used a mini clothing peg to hold the petals together in order for the crease to be really crisp. I had arranged 5 sets from smallest to largest.

Once you are satisfied with the crease, start with the smallest piece a wrap around the wire, dowel or stem. I had used a stem from an old faux flower of which I had cut the top off.

DIY Heart Garland

This is a simple project that you can use to decorate gifts with, use for a party or simply string around a room to add some charm.

For this project you will need

  • A heart shaped punch or scissors to cut it out

  • Bakers twine

  • Glue

  • Patterned paper

  • Plain paper

The first step will be to choose your favourite type of paper (I chose book type)

.

to use to punch or cut out the shape you would like. repeat with the plain paper as well to create a backing. If cutting it out with scissors, be sure to cut one plain and one patterned at the same time as you will be gluing them together
